Another toilet problem

My toilet wouldn't flush. Handle had no pressure. Looked on net for info and discovered it could be the diaphram(the small oblong piece of thin Plastic about 3"x2") in the cistern that had split. Anyway husband checked and the diaphram was half missing. Got new one from B & Q £1.38 and changed it. Now the handle has pressure and toilet flushes but slowly and doesn't get rid of paper. Any advice please.

Where is the missing half of the diaphragm ? Finding that would seem to be the answer. Better check through the internal pipework. It will mean taking the whole thing apart again to see up and into the upper u-bend and down into the rear of the bowl. Dontcha love plumbing ! !0

it could be the other half causing a problem. or maybe just replace the whole syphon assembly. they are not expensive. 3/4 quid.Get some gorm.0

try toolstation or screwfix.
BQ can be very expensive on simple items.Get some gorm.0 -
Anyway continuing the saga. Bought a new syphon fourteen quid in Homebase (no toolstation or screwfix near us). Fitted it and toilet worked fine for 10 days and now it's doing the same as before. Not flushing properly. What nexy guys ? Thanks0

The original syphons diaphram is stuck and blocking the WC bowls flushing outlets, if you have a close coupled toilet you will need to remove the cistern and check inside the hole that the syphon sits down onto, forceps or tweezers maybe needed to reach far enough inside to ensure there are no pieces of plastic stuck in there, if its a low level WC then remove the flush pipe and check the end where it enters the WC pan for the missing plastic. If this fails to work then removing the pan to outside and putting a hose up inside the internal rim of the toilet to try to blow it out is your next option, using compressed air may also work.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

just wanted to tell the people who helped me THANKS. It was the other half of the Diaphram stuck in pipe under the rim at the back. Pulled out with pliers. Thanks again.0
