What is wrong with buyers these days???

Help please,I stipulate in all my auctions 'paypal only please'.
So what I recieved today from a buyer, a bl**dy e-cheque!
Any advice as to how to deal with this? Don't really want to take it, but its done now and not for a great amount(£20).
I want to wait for the thing to clear, but am I gonna get busted for not sending it out in a few days??
Looking for opinions really as to what to say to buyer, who clearly is either trying it on or cant read!!
Thanks

Hi
The buyer won't have chosen to pay by e-cheque,I believe it has something to do with the buyer not having a valid credit or debit card linked to their paypal account and the money will come from their bank account instead which takes some time !0 -

Dont send it out until the e-cheque clears as it can be cancelled easily IIRC. Let the buyer know you've received payment as an echeque and that it wont clear until whatever the date is and you will post the item then.0 -
I concur with the others, echeques are often quite random so you need to blame paypal not the buyer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your comments, I was indeed unclear, as I thought e-cheques were sent by choice! I will wait for the cheque to clear and post the item, obviously letting the buyer know.
Many thanks:D0 -

I buy lots of things and completely out of the blue last year one of my payments went as an echeque, never did know why.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The same thing has happened to me, someone has paid via echeque. And it won't clear for another 2 weeks with bank holiday in between. How does this effect the ebay side of things as they now force you to state how long you will take to dispatch the item. I stated that I dispatch within 2 working days of payment. Can the buyer claim late delivery?0

Surely it's 2 working days of the payment clearing? Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0

This was my problem exactly,I pride myself on sending items out straight away after payment, and this is really jarring! I wouldn't be surprised if we dont get moaned at for not sending out, thats ebay for ya!!0 -
A couple of years ago I bought something which I needed really quickly.
Somehow, which I never figured out how, the paypal payment went as an e-cheque.
Maybe your buyer has had the same thing.
My seller cancelled it for me and I paid again via paypal and it all went through fine that time!0
