Joint Account

My girlfriend and I are considering getting a joint account because we are moving in together in May and it would make it easier to pay the bills; i.e. we both deposit a percentage of our salary each month and then we use the joint account for all direct debits, etc.
I'm currently with Barclays and she's with HSBC.
I'm trying to figure out if we should apply for a joint account at one of the banks we already use, or whether we should try applying for a joint account at another bank.
Any thoughts?

I would say go with one of the banks you are already with as then at least one of you can deposit money straight into the joint account in case of any emergencies! However if both your banks are sending and receiving faster payments (i know HSBC does) it doesn't matter so much, probably. If either of you have any problems on your credit file going with a bank you have an existing relationship with may be easier.0
