Advice requeired re withdrawing money abroad

Hi

I am going to Egypt in December and would usually bring some currency and travellers cheques but someone has said it would be cheaper to just open a current account which does not charge for foreign cash withdrawals.

Does anyone have any input on this?

I have had a search for a current account but the ones I have seen charge for foreign cash withdrawals. Can anyone recommend an account?

I look forward to your comments. :j

If you can obtain Nationwide's Flex account with VISA Debit Card, there is only a 1% fee for ATM withdrawals outside Europe currently, unlike the higher charges of most Debit Cards.

The Cashcard version of the account will not permit ATM withdrawals by December, as the present Cirrus card is being replaced between June and September.
