8 week limit

Hi all
I have had an ongoing battle with Nationwide. I had their last rejection letter in early Jan which said they would close my case if they didn't hear back from me in 8 weeks - I didn't get around to replying.
Just wanted to double-check - that 8 week limit doesn't have any legal effect, does it? I can still go to the Ombudsman, send in a template letter and launch a claim, right?

You can go to the ombudsman but if the bank have closed the case because you didn't respond then they have every right to treat it as a new complaint and the 8 week process begins again. If you are going to the FOS there is no legal requirement to do anything but there is regulatory requirements though.0
