Need A Courier To Pick Up A Mobility Scooter?

Options
Hi

Thinking of purchasing a mobility scooter but the ebayer is charging £70 to send by courier:eek:

Does anyone know of a good reliable courier service that will collect etc at a reasonable rate?

Thanks

How far away is it from where you live?

There may be a possibility that a reliable man and van would do it cheaper if it's close by

If the seller is stating £70 for courier then surely you have to either accept their postage charge or find an alternative seller who has a lower postage charge. I wouldn't have thought that you could find your own courier.

I just had a brief look on eBay under 'mobility scooter' and found sellers charging £40 for a courier which perhaps you are more willing to pay.

Yes you will need to heck with the seller first. The problem here is if the seller packs the item in a reliable method for your courier to transport. So a bit iffy as you will not get compensation if the item is damaged and not packed correctly. My own courier would not charge more than £30 for this type of item but it is at the sellers discretion how mmuch they charge for postage and packing and we all know a lot of people put in a bit extra for fees etc.
However my friend bought 4 alloy wheels from ebay and the seller was charging £65 however he emailed him and he used our coureir, There was no problem and he only paid £18 inc vat.

    Hi

There are loads of Couriers who would be pleased to pick up/deliver eBay purchases for you.

Especially, owner drivers, who would be only too pleased to utilise spare space on a vehicle. There are 1000s of drivers driving around the motorway network with empty or part loaded vehicles who are looking to enhance their profitability with non-urgent jobs such as ebay purchases.

You would receive a better price if you gave the driver, say, a 5 day window for delivery. He/she would then deliver it when they are next in your area for example. Owner/drivers would keep your item in their vehicle for the duration of the journey, thereby keeping it safe and free from damage which some of the bulk handling illustrious competitors couldn't give two-hoots about!

There are web sites out there where anyone can post a job and receive quotes from Couriers.

    Good Luck!

Please don't forget that if this is a paypal auction then the seller is quite correct in choosing his own courier where he knows he is covered against loss, or in case any buyer claims non receipt.

Also th eprice quoted of £70 might not be the courier cost, it might be £50 for the courier and £20 extra for all associated costs, therefore finding a courier that is cheaper than £70 might not work out cheaper in the long run.

The only thing you can do is negotiate with the seller *before* you bid, if the price including courier is too high then buy from someone else.

  • mm, £70 DOES sound reasonabel doesnt it?

Try hiring a van and driving yourself for £70.

Obviously as always you need to factor delivery into the total cost but say for example you wanted a motorbike delivering i guess you would consider £70 ok? and this is larger and more difficult to deliver than something like that

i think swallow it and go for it
