What do I need to buy to service a petrol lawnmower?

I have a petrol lawnmower that is in need of a service, luckily my Dad is coming down at the weekend so I plan to buy the bits ready and then casually drop it in the conversation and ask him to do it for me
It's a Flymo lawnchief 400PD with a tecumseh engine. I know it takes 4 stroke oil but that's about as far as I go!
I've read about:
oil filters
air filters
spark plugs
Are these type of things one size fits all? Any pointers on what to buy and where (preferably offline so I'm guaranteed to have it ready in time for my Dad's visit - I live in a large town so will have most major stores available to me).
Thanks in advance for any input

- 4 Stroke oil
- The air filter is a little piece of sponge (if I remember corectly)
- Spark plugs may be a little harder to get hold of as they are not standard car plugs.
- Check the pull cord it tends to fray and what you will find it snaps just as you are going to use it.
- Clean all old caked on grass from underside (make sure its NOT RUNNING when you do this)
- Remove and resharpen the blades or renew whatever is cheapest
