HSBC application accepted

Options
Hi, I applied online for an HSBC Green Bank Account and have received today a letter in the post saying
We're pleased to accept your application and now just need a couple more things to get you started.

. a completed Signature Record Form (enclosed) signed by you
. 1 item of Identification and 1 item of Address Verification (see attached list of acceptable documents)

Does this mean I have been accepted or may they decline me after I send the documents?

I currently bank with Natwest and Halifax, but both are basic accounts as I could not open a full current account due to lack of credit history.

Recently I applied for an Alliance & Leicester current account and was refused. Also last year applied for a current account at Barclays, Natwest and HSBC and was refused too. So I can't believe HSBC has accepted me now.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say you have been accepted pending acceptable ID

I received the same letter and went in to a branch to complete the application. My account was opened that day with overdraft and the advisor said I could have a credit card too. I declined their offer of a credit card at the moment. Good luck!

Thank you all. Then it definitely looks like I've been accepted as the letter also includes an account number and sort code. I have sent the documents back today, so in a few days I will know. :D

starM, I applied online on the 14th and the letter is dated 15th March. It comes with a phone number for queries: 08457 404 404. Just ring them and ask because if she had been declined she should have already received a letter too.

It may be that she has been accepted and they don't need any documents from her, hence the next thing for her to look up is receiving the debit card and PIN.

sscott5581, did you apply for the overdraft or was it part of the account approval? To be honest I do not recall having been asked if I wanted one during the application process.

That is sad. Until now the only accounts I could have were an Easycash and a Step account. Besides those above, LTSB, Citibank, Nationwide and Halifax also refused to open a full current account for me.

If you read my posts in the credit card forum, I just got hold of an Aqua credit card 5 months ago and now a Capital One classic. Probably they will help build my credit. Natwest, Halifax and Sygma declined me.

And last but not least I just have one year credit history with accounts like JD Williams, Next, a 3 mobile phone and the Natwest Step account which is shown as a full credit account. Even tried the cashplus creditbuilder nonsense which have now cancelled.

As you can see I am a bit addicted now to the apply button but if I am to get mainstream credit cards I'll have to put an end to it for at least 6 or 9 months.

Hope your defaults drop off soon mate, you are a valued member in this place.

I was asked if I wanted an overdraft, I asked for £100 and got it there and then. I dont know how much I was preapproved for.

Do they give instant declines or acceptances? I applied for a joint account online last night & got a 'we will be in touch with you shortly' sort of message - I should have paid a bit more attention to what it said. If they decline for a full account, do you have to accept a basic account? I have a full account with Lloyds & Natwest, but am looking to change to HSBC as I have heard good things about them.
    Thanks:beer:
