Hair colour help please - Salon charges a fortune!

  • My daughter has cool skin tone too, taking after her Irish dad. She's dyed her hair every colour of the rainbow now I think, her hair naturally is an dark ashy blonde - but yes, its a very different blonde to me. She has had only one calamity with home dyeing when she tried to go from jett black to ice blonde, thankfully we were living in Spain at the time where hairdressers are much cheaper - and they managed to sort it out for her for 30 euros. Like someone suggested if you have a Sally's in close by they do seem to know what they are talking about and always seemed very helpful with my daughter when she was going black to purple to ice blonde to red etc. offering advice etc. I have another friend who uses Superdrug multi lights with great sucess, its a 2 step procedure I often get drafted into - you dye it all first, rinse and then highlight - looks very natural on her and will be probably what I have do to sort out the mess I'm in now (Hubby says I look like a Spanish Granma and its so obviously highlighted!), another idea is to buy the Aldi highligh kit and do a strand test on a tiny piece of hair not so seen, so you know how it turns out - that way if its obviously not going to suit you've ony wasted E 2.00.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I do mine myself using a powder called blondor by wella. You need to mix it up with peroxide. Its bleach but this one is alot kinder to the hair.
My hair is platinum blonde, almost white infact. I really suit the color as Im very tanned. And my natual hair color is almost black. I need to do my roots every 4 weeks as when my roots come through as you can imagine they are very dark compared to my hair!
Saves me an absolute fortune! Costs me just over £25 to buy everything and it lasts about 6 months! Compared to about £50 every month in a salon!

I suppose I'd be a cool blonde then. I am naturally very pale and rarely get any sort of tan.
    .

Maybe not! I am also very pale and don't tan but my actual skin tone is distinctly warm. Cool tones make me look ill.

An easy way to tell is to get two pieces of fabric - one offwhite/ivory/creamy and one pure white. Place each one in turn around your neck and see which one makes you look better. If it is the white one then you have a cool skin tone. Put pure white anywhere near my face and I look like death warmed over!

Another way is to try your local college, they are very supervised and a lot lot cheaper than salons, just be prepared for them not to be very quick.
Where I live it's the 3rd years students that do the hair colouring.
Haandy for all sorts of beauty treatments as well
Treat other's how you like to be treated.

And now I have the joy of having my foster granddaughter becoming my real granddaughter. Can't ask for anything better

    UPDATE,
As of today 180919. my granddaughter is now my official granddaughter, adoption finally granted

My eyes are brown! You wouldnt think someone who is tanned and has brown eyes and brown eyebrows would suit platinum blonde but I do!
I went back to dark brown almost 2 years ago, biggest mistake ever! Nobody recognised me anymore and everyone thought I am better as a blonde. Even people who knew me growing up and were used to me being brown! lol at me talking about growing up! Im only 25!
