HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error
this is coming up on three computers in my house.Yesterday someone suggested i reboot my router to generate a new IP address , this didn't work BUT then i tried to access the site through a "proxy server" and success that did work. I am a mod on the said site so i am not on a banned list.
any ideas greatly received

it may be that the hosting company for the forum may be having problems - As you can connect to other websites then I dont think that the problem is at your end.
Do you have any contact details of other admins - website owner or hosting company?
If the proxy worked then it could be that there is a problem with a server along the route, the proxy address would route the direction you take along the internet to get to the forum.
It may be that the problem is sorted in a few days time as whatever the problem is fixed.
You could always try trace on the IP address of the forum/website to see where the problem could be.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

thanks- What model router do you have?
- By the way, when you rebooted it did you switch off / on or do a full factory reset?
- Additionally, have you tried with both internet browsers (firefox and IE) incase it's something specific to one of them ?
If it's working through a proxy it suggests to me there's something wrong with the DNS on your router (or a naffed host file on all 3 PCs).
Could just be something like a dodgy firewall rules....
I remember making a post in this forum where someone had similar problems and that was fixed, I think it was done by a Windows Update or something. I'll try and find it
EDIT - Here's the post (unrelated fault, but it may be worth doing a Windows Update) just in case there are some corrupted root certificates
