Recommend hotels or accommodation for a young family

My wife and I like to visit new places and enjoy weekends away with our little girl who is 18 months old. We enjoy spending the day visit shops, parks, the zoo, going for lunch and generally doing family orientated stuff.
However, in the evening after an early dinner it would be nice to return to a hotel room that has a bedroom separate to the living area. This would allow us to get our daughter to sleep whilst we relax in the living area with a cheeky glass of wine.
Alternatively we would like to stay in a cottage or lodge somewhere. Not really looking for centre parks and the like as we only want one or two nights.
Can anyone recommend hotels or lodges at sensible prices that can offer this? We live in Warwickshire and do not mind traveling an hour or two.

We have used the real visitors book website to find somewhere to stay that is DOG friendly - but I think they also have a category for FAMILY friendly places to stay to. The advantage being that all the places on the site are recomended by people who have stayed their rather than just adverts. Google The real visitors book and you shoud find their site.
Good luck and enjoy your naughty glass of wine!0 -
why don't you try static caravan parks. some of them offer 2 or 3 night breaks in low season times0

Thought I should update this post. We stayed at Four Pillars Cotswold Water Park. They have appartments connected to the hotel so you get the flexibility of a self catering with all the usual comforts of a hotel (pool, spa, restaurant etc.)

had a great weekend for, 2 nights for about £190. Staff were nice, restaurant good, and the accomodation was great. Huge bedroom, massive bathroom, good size lounge and open plan kitchen.
Anyone know any other places like this?
p.s. if you don't want the self catering option with seperate bedroom Travel Zoo have a deal on hotel rooms (but your kids are in teh same room)Love is all you need da da da da da..... and a little help from a forum every now and then.0
