I had an email Saturday from a buyer thanking me for their item and saying they were just contacting me to ask why it had taken over a week to arrive when I have a 2 day dispatch time quoted and even with second class it seemed a long time. They said they thought they would ask before they left feedback as they noticed it wasn't even franked until the 19th and they were quite surprised that a seller with my feedback could be so slow.
I checked my listing and it actually sold on the 18th and was posted next morning, so I immediately emailed back and explained.
Buyer came back to say they are quite sure they purchased it on the 11th and not the 18th, but having checked their own ebay it appears that ebay were showing the transaction date as the 18th, so on this occasion they will blame ebay for the mix up and not me. They then left a positive with a comment about how ebay mucked up the sale but seller seems honest enough. I cna only assume they saw the listing date and not the sellign date somehow, but it really really makes me want an IQ test before people can use ebay.

You do get stupid people, I once sold some shoes, they were a size 5, I had someone ask me "I am a size 4, do you think these will fit me?".My daughters are my world0

I wonder if it's not stupidity so much as the fact that a lot of people really have trouble admitting that they made a mistake. For example I work in a library and people will often come up the the desk and say, "book x is supposed to be on the shelf, but it's missing". I will go to the shelf and it will be sitting there. You won't believe how many people will say, "It wasn't there just now! One of your colleagues must have reshelved it when I came to speak to you!" despite the fact that there are no other members of staff in that part of the library. I think some people would rather slit their own throat than admit that they made a mistake.0 -
This could turn in to the longest thread ever. It's the nanny state. It's turned the brains of the great British public to jelly. Witness all the people in Hull after the floods. Never paid insurance, but want the government, i.e. you and me, to pay up.
My bugbear, apart from people withdrawing as "they made a mistake" are emails asking if my items are in good condition. All state brand new and boxed. I have occasionally given in to temptation and flamed the buyer. Then excluded him from bidding of course. Silly - but satisfying.0 -
Lol, there are crazy people on eBay, but at least they paid up and gave you positive feedback.0

Excuse me please, not all of us. I got flooded out but luckily had appropriate insurance. Please don't tar us all with the same brush. Hull has its scroungers, just like any other city, and a large proportion of us are honest and hardworking people.0 -
No actually i have quite a few similar - it's a push at a partial refund in my opinion. I have had some ridiculously cheeky ones where postage cost shown has been 50p (or sometimes 30p) less than i charged and they email saying you charged x, yet the post office label states y - Please tell me why 'before i leave you feedback'.
I either completely ignore them for their ignorance, or send a polite email back stating the costs are for Postage and PACKING and also ebay allow for a handling fee, even though i don't charge this - Jiffy bags do cost. I have yet to have a bad feedback but it amuses me what some people have the cheek to complain about.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
