    A weemah wah - a weemah wah :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Think i need to budget for a pack of adult nappies before I go any further, im in tears again today - only this time of laughter!

I was going to post it on that thread but im still not at the end, no where near as funny as what happens on that thread but I had the missus in stitches. Firstly picture the scene, I had just had a massive bust up with a client and was in a really vindictive and evil mood, when Tiscali phoned up about the debt from the broadband I had migrated from 6 months earlier stating i still owed them januaries payment as I never cancelled (I cancelled in writing when I requested the MAC code, which they gave me, so didnt owe the money) - there call centre is based in india, and if you read this with an indian accent in your head you may see why it was comical

Tiscali: Hello, I speak to Mr xxxx
    Me: Speaking
Tiscali: what is date a birth
Me: A date of birth is a record of the date a person was born, used to accurately guage age.
Tiscali: what is date a birth
Me: I just told you, <repeated as above>
Tiscali: what is date a birth
Me: Do you not understand english? <repeated as above>
    Tiscali: What is post code
Me: A post code is a 6-7 alphanumeric character string which can be cross referenced to provide a latitude and longitude of a specific street.
    Tiscali: What is post code
    Me <repeat as above>
    Tiscali: What is post code
    Me <repeat as above>
    Tiscali: Your phone number is:
Me: the number you just phoned me on
    Tiscali: Your phone number is:
Me: You already know you are calling the right number, so why should I confirm this
    Tiscali: for our security
Me: You mean you are not secure? there is no way I am giving you my details
Tiscali: why you not answer questions, I try to make you pay
Me: Pay for what? I dont owe you anything
Tiscali: Pay 21.24 pounds right now or I take you to legal proceedings
Me: thank you for breaking the data protection act, feel free to take legal proceedings as I do not owe the money and have proof.
    Tiscali: anker <hangs up>

it took 100's of phone calls to get this matter sorted, would have been easier to pay the £21.24 but I did not owe it, there was another one I had with a girl in india (earlier in the timeframe of my complaint so answered the questions)

Tiscali: May I speak with Mr Hall
    Me: Speaking
Tiscali: For our security purposes, may I confirm your identity by asking your dob and postcode
    Me: xx/xx/xxxx, xx123xx
Tiscali: thank you, you are speaking to xxxxx, I am calling about your debt of £21.24
Me: Why do I owe that:
Tiscali: for services provided from the 21st december to the 21st January
Me: What services, I gave you one calender months notice from the 21st November of my intention to discontinue my service when I requested a MAC Code:
Tiscali: You can not cancel at the same time as you request a MAC Code on the phone:
Me: I did it in writing
Tiscali: It makes no difference, pay and then claim it back
Me: Would you pay for your water supply, then realise you are going to pay someone else for it instead, let the first company know within the contracted timescales and move supplier, then pay the first company for water you have not had from them
    Tiscali: No, of course not
Me: why are you charging me for the broadband then, after I moved companies
Tiscali: Good Point, but you owe the money sir
    Me: No I do not
<cut 20 minutes of going around in circles />
Me: if a court of law says I owe the money, I will pay it, but until that point I am not paying a penny and we are wasting each others time
    <hang up>

This got written off when I (re)sent proof of my cancellation letter, taking them 10 weeks to process

  • well today I had a response from Apex!

    it states the following:

    Outstanding Balance: £268.84

Following our recent conversation regarding the above noted amount, we can confirm we will accept £161.30 full and final settlement.

To Avoid missing the opportunity of paying at a reduced rate, we must receive your payment no later than 20/04/2010. Once this deadline has passed the settlement will become void and the full balance due.

My initial offer was for 25%, which equated to [FONT=&quot]£67.21, and from what i quickly calculated there response is 59%. Is it worth trying to meet them in the middle or grab this offer and run?

Also it does not state anything about clearing my credit record - is this just a matter of course from the full and final?
