Dont agree with valuation?

Never dealt with Estate Agents when selling, if an EA values my house at £180000 can I ask that my property be put on the market for £190000? Would the EA do this or tell me to go elsewhere?

    You can ask that your property be put on the market for whatever you like - many times the true value if that floats your boat.

    It's up to the EA whether they want to accept your instructions or not. You're talking about a 5% hike, so they'd probably still accept you as a client - but they'd also warn you that you are very likely to have to reduce your price.

    What on earth for ?!?!?!

    So that it can sit there, on the market, while you wait for the non-existent buyer who's going to pay over the odds for it?

    So that, after a few months, you can reduce it to £180k, and offer the buyers a '£10k discount' ?

    WHY?

    The fact is the surveyor will downvalue it to a realistic price anyway for the buyers mortgage company so unless you are lucky enough to find a cash buyer who is prepared to pay over the odds for your place............. and in my experience cash buyers expect to pay less not more!!

    Put it on the market for what you want but someone's only going to pay what they think it's worth.
    Plus it will just get down valued by the surveyor.

    It will also be on the market longer so people will chance it more with a cheeky offer.
