My daughter (22 next month) is currently part time at college and has been offered a place at a Uni in Sept..
She lives at home and works part time and has been looking at the forms for grants etc and seems to think because she is living at home ( she pays £20 per week, most weeks but doesn't always have the money) that she will not be entilted to any financial help is this the case. ( her wages just about cover the cost of her car to get to college and fuel and her phone costs) let alone books etc that she will have to buy... but as she does 2 night shifts she will have to give this up when she goes to uni..
Any help will be greatfully received

Students living at home do get financial help - just not as much as those of us who live away from home.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Presuming she's going to be going to university full time and has never done a degree she'll get loans to cover her tuition plus loans/grants for maintanence. She can find information about student finance (plus some information about what is available if she's only going to be studying part-time) HERE
She can also find a calculator for what she could expect to receive HERE
She needs to fill her application for finance as soon as possible in order to ensure she gets it sorted on time as there were a lot of problems last year.0 -
Thank you, will get her to try the calculator, never knew one existed lol
Least its some good news for her as she was beginning to panic about the money side of it..
thanks again0 -
There may also be no need for her to give up her night shifts; most students do some part time work.0
