light or dark carpet

We are having the whole of the upstairs carpeted, all the bedrooms the landing and the stairs.
The two bedrooms get very little light. I was going to go for a mid brown carpet, so as not to show up the dirt. Or should i go with light because the rooms are so dark.
Dont know what to do, any advice gratefully recieved.

Light carpets = sooner or later look dirty, get stained etc.
Paint all the walls and ceilings white or light tint, then you can get away with a darker carpet...For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
Hve you thought about carpet on the stairs and landing and say laminate in the bedrooms. You could have dark carpet so it doesn't show the dirt up the stairs.
You could have a light laminate in the bedroom to help reflect the light. Laminate is also hard wearing, especially if it is in a childs bedroom.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Oh thats harsh, warm toes on a cold laminate floor

Maybe be look at something with a fleck in it as is does hide the dirt better then a solid plain colour.
something like this

Be careful, as dark carpets can show up bits of fluff very easily. As tori.k says, a fleck (even just a slight one) can help disguise these. I have an oatmealy colour with a bit of a fleck on our stairs and landing, and it's been great for keeping its looks.0
