Tiling kitchen, too much adhesive?

We asked someone to tile the kitchen diner, about 15 square metres, which he said would take 2 days and £200 labour.

He said i would need about three bags of adhesive, at about £60.

When I came to pay him he said he used five bags because the floor was so unlevel and it cost £180!!!! the bags were £30 each and a few extras. I asked him for the reciepts.

The next day he said he showed me reciept and said it was £23 a bag and that he made a mistake. I feel ripped off. but

My main concern is that he used so much adhesive. He did not level floor first. So we have inches and inches of adhesive to make floor level.

Might we have a problem with this in the future?

You will be fine, you don't have inches of adhesive (would not matter if you did) you have on average less than twice what he expected to use.

I've never done a tiling job yet that does not use twice as much adhesive as it says on the tin. But perhaps that's just my bad tiling methods.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
