Scrapping A Car

I have a 2001 Fiat Punto that we are spending more time and money maintaining than its worth. We dont actually NEED the car anymore as I am on public transport to work, and my wife can borrow her Mum's in emergency's.
Where is the best place to scrap it, i.e. for the most money? Is there a lot of money in scrapping it? Never done this before. Ta.

I think most places are paying £130-£140 they collect from you. Pehaps have a look on ebay to get an idea of prices for spares for your type of car as it may pay you to 'break it' first before giving to scrap man. Wing mirrors etc can cost a fortune0

Does it have any mot left? If so, then you'll definitely get more money selling in paper / ebay than scrapping.0

Thanks folks.
Jaydeeuk - I should have mentioned that earlier today there was a loud clanging noise when we stalled the car in our driveway earlier. We got out the car and it was spewing out oil, maybe a few litres worth, and it looks like we have ruptured something.*
This is sort of the final straw as it seems to be one thing after another and we have had enough.
* can you tell I know nothing about cars!?0 -
Bumped up, in the hope of any other replies(!)0

If it has a MOT and/or tax then someone will buy it as a non runner for more than the scrap value.
