Home phone call connection costs

I have been using the callchecker feature and various well researched pieces on home phone providers, among others. However I feel they have missed an important detail in the phone comparisons, particularly with regard to the international calls. This is the issue of call connection fees. For non-inclusive calls, such as the 0844 and 0871 numbers that commonly feature in the international call checker as access numbers.
I discovered this issue after receiving several phone bills where calls that should have been 1p or 2p each were far more - especially when using an international access number, but getting an engaged tone (and then trying again several times until a connection is made).
I think that these charges need to be a factor in choosing one's calls provider, based on the profile of numbers that you call, and I also think that this information should be available through the callchecker service.
A list I have compiled:
BT 9.9p
Direct Save Telecom 7.4p
Euphony 7.95p
first:telecom 8.2p
Madasafish 9.3p
Plusnet 9.3p
Post Office 8.23p
Primus Saver 4p
Sky 9p
TalkTalk 9.25p
Virgin Media 11p
24Talk 9.05p
Orange 7.15p
yourcalls.net 6p
tesco 6p
equitalk 3p
Vonage No connection fee

You missed a few:
1899 - 5p
18866 - 5p
18185 - 5pTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
