A friend has just got a modem from Talk Talk. When they plug it into the USB port on their Laptop, the computer shuts down.
They have spoken at length (2 hours @ 10p per minute) to talk talk and all they can say is there is a problem with the Motherboard in the laptop.
The compute works fine and has done since they bought it
Anyone any Techie suggestions please??
Thanks

It sounds like the USB modem is drawing too much current from the computers USB port. You could try using a USB powered hub i.e. one with an external power supply. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I agree with expresson, these Talk Talk modems are power hungry devils , a mians powered hub is the answer
this sort of thing
