495 to plumb in bathroom?

Hiya

I have a new bathroom suite that I'd like to get plumbed in. I have (only one so far!) quote of 495 which seems really expensive (to me, NOT a plumber!) to plumb in a new suite. How much would you guys think that it should cost to plumb in a new toilet, sink and bath (v. straightforward, downstairs, no shower, roll top bath not boxed in)?

Many thanks for any suggestions!

To take out an old bathroom suite and replace with a new one in the same place, the plumber I use charges £450. If it is not a straightt swap, then it is more. Essex prices.

Where are you based. If you are putting in a roll top bath then the waste and hot/cold feeds will almost certainly have to be changed.

  • seems pretty average to me, i usually charge between 300 and 600. depending on how much pipework needs altering, thats in york, where were reputed as being tight when it comes to spending money! All the bits soon add up, eg, youve got four taps or 2 mixers to connect, each probably needs a bit of pipe, tap connectors x4 probably replacement back nuts cos the plastic ones that come as standard from budget diy outlets are pants and either break or pull through the tapholes, then you have 2 wastes, consisting of a trap and more than likely some alterations to waste pipes, your toilet and sink dont come in a ready to fit package, they need putting together which includes assembling the syphon etc, then its more than likely that you will need some alterations to your foul outlet (poo pipe) and a new pan connector, so your plumber has probably got another £100 to spend on 'fittings' that are essential. Then he's probably expected to dispose of the old suite, which is £25 to £50 for trade waste disposal depending on the local authority. If its a roll top bath, and any pipes are exposed/visible, he will probably have priced to use chrome plated trap, pipes and waste for aesthetics. Id let him do it personally, its not bad in my opinion.
