hi all,
just wondering what bank account charges the smallest amount for unathourised overdraft / lack of funds available. I have been caught out recently and charged a crazy £35.00 for a £11.00 direct debit.
thanks in advance

The best plan of action is to:
(i) Have an arranged overdraft so that if you mis-calculate or forget a payment, the fees/interest will be lower, and/or
(ii) Leave a small positive buffer in your account, which will have the same effect, and definitely
(iii) Keep a close eye on your account - with internet banking it's so easy - and also keep a list of what payments you have due out at different times. Always make sure you have money available, as going over your arranged overdraft limit repeatedly will not do you any favours.0
