I just bought a used desktop. It had XP installed and was given the disk, so everything legal. There is also Works7 and Works Suite 2003 except for Autoroute.
Looking back through the System Restore a lot of programmes were uninstalled a few days before I bought it and then Works was re-installed a couple of days later, then Autoroute uninstalled again the day before I bought it.
I was not given any disks for Works, but have found on System Info found the Product key numbers. On checking Encarta you need the disk to use the programme. Is it the same for Autoroute that you need the disk? If you do then I won't bother to do a system restore to the day before I bought it.
Also I know that the Win XP OEM license stays with the computer and is not transferrable to another computer, but what is the suituation with Works software?

As I was checking the computer the guy I bought it from had to put in the product key no. in order to use Word. This is obviously going to be the most used programme of the Works package that I will use.0

If I was you I woudnt even bother with microsoft word, just download http://www.abiword.com/ in my opinion is just as good

Never heard of Abiword, if I was going to go for a free one, I'd go for Open Office
Anyway I need WORD for sending my CV via jobsites.0 -
Morrsions used to do a route planner for about a £5 i think it was from the aa . I've brought its not to good at street level but at town level its great and works out bussiness milage as well0

In my previous job, I always used https://www.theaa.com if I did not know a route to the areas I was working in. As for my business mileage I wrote my starting mileage in my diary every day.0

There are so many free online route planners that I don't know why Microsoft bothers with Autoroute any more, except perhaps for multi-drop drivers. And you get so many different routes and times, with the UK Google maps usually suggesting the longest times. Here are some from my bookmarks (hope they are still valid)...

Autoroute doesnt allways reuquire the disk depending on the installation done. it can be installed completly so you dont need the disk in the drive for it to run I use it that way on my laptop and pc save me having to keep the disk in the drive. the only way you will find out how it was installed is by doing a restore. I dont think it tells you the amount of space taken but the diference is about 620MB between the full install and part install.
As for having a disk for windows doesnt make it legal even if the disk is an original.0 -
The un-install date was 19/7 and that restore point has now disappeared from system restore , so I can't put it back on now.
As for as the license goes, I presume the seller kept the Works discs as he had bought a laptop. The system was built by a local computer dealer, the Win XP is an OEM product, not sure about the Works, so don't know in Microsoft's eyes where that leave me.0 -
Works is often shipped with PC's again it is OEM and should remain with the PC.0
