Conveyancing in Kent - Baker Macdonald and Brachers?

Hi all,
Rather like gwapenut, I am looking for a conveyancing solicitor in Kent and would be interested to hear your recommendations (or otherwise).
I'm currently looking at Baker Macdonald and Brachers: Baker Macdonald because their professional fees seem to be lower than many others, and Brachers because I've heard good things about them and have a friend who works there who could be a "man on the inside" if anything did go awry. Brachers are considerably more expensive than most others, though - nearly twice the price - so I'm unlikely to use them.
Of course, any other suggestions or advice are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
