HELP! Basil eaten alive by insects every time I grow it

We use copious amounts of basil in our house so I have tried on numerous occasions to grow it in bulk in a window box. Unfortunately our garden inhabitants seem very keen on the stuff as well. I dont really want to cover the basil in insecticide if I can help it.
Any tried and tested organic methods out there?

Can you grow it inside on a windowsill? The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

Yes, Basil can be grown inside on a windowsill but care must be taken. Most common problem growing inside is root rot resulting from over watering and poor light conditions.
Any idea on what is attacking your Basil? Most common is aphids - spray hard with water or add a tiny amount of washingup liquid and spray to help get them off!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0 -
