Concessionery Travel Cards - Withdrawal of some benefits
I live in Nottinghamshire, and I have just picked up that from 1st April 2010 the following is being withdrawn from card holders :-
Half fare bus travel before 9.00am
Half fare rail travel in the county at any time.
Concessionary fares for carers when accompanying those they care for.
This is going to cost me around £8 a week more.
Are concessions being withdrawn by other local authorities?

Yes, lots of local authorities are doing similar things.
For example, my local authority used to offer free bus travel to the companion of a disabled bus pass holder. But alas, not after 1st April.
Of course they cannot cut the 'national' benefits, but all councils look at ways to cut their spending each year.
Talk to your local councillor about your concerns, but you may be to late for this year.0 -
I believe that Strathclyde area are changing their flat fare prices for trains, but I'm not sure what the new prices are going to be... Have been pretty static for quite a while though, so I suppose it was about time they tried to bump them up. FWIW, I don't think pensioners should have to pay for their travel, but that might just be meFight Crime : Shoot Back.
