Ebay - Seller wants more cash for postage

Hi folks, I've bought a few games from the states via ebay, which I didn't think twice about since it's an established seller (well into five figures feedback) and I've had no problems for years with ebay. Buy it now, hammer the joypad later.
At first I requested a total. I couldn't remember whether totals were automatically updated by Ebay, so after more than a day with no reply I started the payment process, saw that a postage discount was given for the multiple games so finished the payment, job done.
I've just received a short and sour email stating that I still owe X dollars for postage, and a paypal address to send the cash to. It turned a

. I'm of the sort who doesn't like to kick up a fuss etc. so would normally just cough up and have done with it, but it doesn't seem right that I'm being asked to circumvent ebay and send cash directly, which I know from experience paypal advises against.
Any advice please?

If you have paid the invoice as it stands then do not pay anymore. If seller refunds your money then walka way, reflect your experience of the transaction in feedback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I just checked their auction listing again. Although the discount is wired into ebay, within the auction description it says that that additional shipping costs per item is X within the US/Mexico etc. (which is what I paid, but it's set up to post to the UK), but varies for other countries and is usually more. (Sorry, really dense of me not to double-check this before ).
Is this an honest mistake on the seller's part when it came to setting up the additional item postage costs, or are they sidestepping postage cost restrictions?0 -
ah , so if i get this right, the seller is in the US and you are in the UK ? and you have only paid for postage in the US?
if that is the case then you should really pay for the extra shipping, BUT not how he is going about it,
i would explain the mistake, and ask him to refund the whole payment and then send you an amended invoice with the uk p&p on it, that way you will be covered under paypal for the whole purchaaseCan you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
Done, thank you both for your help. It's a small thing but I was a little thrown, brain now functioning somewhat.0
