Just about to take the plunge and sell my home privately. Have done some looking around on here and the rest of the internet and I've just about made up my mind to go with https://www.houseladder.co.uk.
However, before I do I wanted to ask if there are any scare/success stories about these people in moneysavingexpert world?
I bought the current house new and it was my first, if I could get through life never having paid a penny to an EA, I'll be just that little bit happier!

Ive been thinking the same thing to be honest with you. BUt I decided to go with housenetwork instead.
As someone pointed out to me, housenetwork not private selling, it is an estate agent, just internet based. so they are fully regualted. http://www.housenetwork.co.uk/ Also I found out that if you are a https://www.quidco.co.uk user ( join up, its well worth the fiver a year admin fee) then selling will cost about 340 once the cash back is added. they go on rightmove so thats the most important thing to me.
I wansnt too keen on the houseladder website to be honest, looked a bit amateurish.
But IM sure someone will come along with other thoughts:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I signed up with Houseladder a week ago. I already have a sole agency agreement with a local EA so could not use an online EA such as HouseNetwork.
The other website that I considered was The Little House Company. Their website does look more professional.
However, the reason that I chose Houseladder was because they always come up top on a google search for buying privately. They also appear to have more properties listed. I did various searches and kept finding "0 properties match your description" on The Little House Company website.
Apart from their main website, they both appear to advertise your property on the same websites such as Fish4 and Yahoo.
I haven't had any enquiries yet - but then I have only had 2 viewings in 10 weeks from my EA. Should have had a 3rd today but they never showed up.
My agents have been pretty poor and I will be sacking them on Monday.
I will let you know if I get any success from the Houseladder ad.0 -
Hi. Am also on with HL, but in 4 weeks, not 1 enquirey!0

have you looked at ononemap.com i think they take private sales0
-
I don`t think it matters which one you go for - they all act as brokers and put your property on fish4homes, propertyfinder, onemap and all the others. I`ve used clicksell and my house is on all the same sites as if I`d used any other broker - and it only costs £59.
BUT I`ve had not one single enquiry for my very average house as a result of internet advertising for the last two months. However, I HAVE had four enquiries from the supplied for sale board, which I adapted to give my home `phone number.
My advice: get a for sale board first and wait before you use internet advertising.
By the way, I gave up waiting and very reluctantly signed up with an estate agent 4 days ago. Today I`ve had a full price offer from proven cash buyers. If it pans out okay the fees will be £3260!!! What can I say.0
