Shops these days have as much floor space filled as they possibly can to the extent that it's dangerous.
Now we have 1 year old twins that are in a double buggy. It goes through a standard 33 inch door but cant get round a lot of stores.
Ok, I confess, it was my wife and i's choice to have more of a family, and it was us that were blessed with twins, but does that make it right? What about people in wheelchairs or with crutches? can they fit through less than 33 inches?
Does anyone know of any legislation that states whats required?
Think I'll start on Monday. take the kids to poundstretchers and take photos.

Driver8, I think your reply was a bit uncalled for, the OP does have a valid point that shops should be accessible to all. No need for you to post personal attacks at someone you don't even know!
Anyways, I must confess that people with Double buggies are a nightmare, they take up the whole aisle in shops, its harsh, but there is the option not to take both kids shopping when you go there, or get two single buggies and go with your wife0 -
Shops should be more accessible but if they aren't and you're upset about it don't go back there. Unfortunately though alot of shops have limited space, high costs and need to sell what they can to survive and if this means alienating the minority they feel the need to do thisAlways ask ACAS0

I bet it isn't a case of you can't get somewhere you probably just have to go to it the other entrance of the aisle.
I actually hope one day pointless complaints will be taxed. The staff time of dealing with this should be passed on to other consumers as a saving which you should have to pay!0 -
Perhaps my original post seems a bit petty and no, I wont be going to take pictures.
However...
Why are the aisles already the size they are? Will the shop not already be designed to maximise floor space?
No they shouldnt ACCOMODATE us, they should make it safe for EVERYONE to exit the shop quickly and safely in the case of an emergency.0 -
Err... don't really think they make the aisles small on purpose. You wouldn't be able to get a trolley round if it was that small.
If taking a double buggy into a store is a problem for you - then don't take it in with you. Do your kids really need to go in to the store?
One of my pet hates is buggy-owners who are unable to steer it correctly - will gladly run over your foot without apologising, cut corners making stuff fall off shelves, take up the whole aisle without a care in the world for anyone else etc. Maybe you should assess the situation more and see if you are part of the problem. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Sports World/Direct is my pet hate. Even without my double buggy I won't go into the store. The one in our town doesn't really have aisle's either; the racks touch each other almost! Fire hazard for able bodied adults let alone anyone else.
Yes, it's annoying with doubles and shops. Trying to shop with my littlies in the double buggy plus their disabled Dad is a nightmare. So I simply don't shop in those types of shops if I am unable to get in. Most shops are AOK anyway so just take your business elsewhere, it's not worth worrying about it. There are far more important things in life!0 -

A culling by fire of the low-life who shop in Sports World/Direct would be greeted with pleasure, not dismay.0 -
