  • I had a problem with this when I installed it last year.
It caused know end of problems, wouldn't let me look at some sites, blocked half of what's on a page etc... so just uninstalled it.
these things just aren't worth the hassle.

Very interesting. I'll keep this thread in mind when I eventually receive Alliance & Leicester's reply to my own complaint - they are refusing to allow me access to online banking unless I install this software.

  • You may have mis-understood rapport as it is not designed to be resistant to viruses, rapport is an anti phiising tool when browsing protected sites, if a virus is on your computer then it can as any program be attacked including your antivirus program itself, rapport is for phiising only, viruses are completely different type of problem altogether. It can be prevented if you have both rapport and a good antivirus program such as avast which is free. The 2 basic pieces of software work together as full protection for onine banking meaning, antivirus/antimalware software (avast), windows firewall (basic but ok) and rapport (for phiising attaks only not viruses), an example of phisiing could be a fake login site for online banking, if it is known to exist rapport will notify you and block the page, that is what its designed for only, i hope it has helped thanx
  • I recently had a banking trojan that managed to slip in over all my up-to-date anti virus protection. How it got on my system is still a mystery as I am so careful about these things.

When I went into my bank account home page ( I have two accounts with different banks) it asked me to install Rapport. This alerted me to the fact that there was something wrong and so I didn't enter my account and tried to get Rapport running again. I couldn't manage to sort it out so I tried to uninstall it in order to reinstall it. When I tried to do that, an option for live support popped up. I clicked on it and had a session with the Advisor who helped me sort out the issues I was having. He was huge help, knew what he was doing and really patient.

I thought the system was excellent and the support great. I loved the fact that there was instant online access for help - and unlike many sites that offer this, it was a real person as opposed to virtual, it was fast and efficient.
  • Trusteer Rapport.
I have been using Trusteer Rapport for about 2 years now.
It was the Nat-West bank that required me to have it.
Since then other banks have advised me to install this software.
The software is non intrusive and very informative when interrogated.
It has been running quietly in the background and together with Norton Antivirus has protected my PC and my bank accounts faultlessly.
Recently I had an issue with updating to the latest version.
The help Trusteer gave me was super fast, detailed, knowledgeable and above all, friendly.
Trusteer seem to have the knack of giving very detailed, simple, and clear instructions, without being patronising.
This software protects against the loss of potentially thousands of pounds and all that for free, with such a good service backup.
For me, not being a computer expert, but willing to learn, this is invaluable.
All together very impressive and refreshing to have this free software with that level of service for the vital task of keeping bank accounts safe.
Thank you Trusteer and long may you continue.

    Factually inaccurate
NatWest bank in the UK does not REQUIRE you to have it. They "recommend" that you have it which is a quite different thing.

Phew. I got worried then. I run Linux so any software the bank provide will be useless to me. I thought I was opening a Natwest account for nothing.

Should they ever start to require specific software, I will be forced to change banks again.

i would recommend installing firefox as you browser and the "noscript" addon as by the way it is described, this would have protected you.

i think it might be called "clickjacking" the way you described it. (i'm no it expert though)

have a google search for more info
