Hi Martin,
Do you feel the need to launch a new campaign?
If so, what better cause could there be than getting together a petition to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) concerning all the deliberately misleading advertising that they are permitting!
I am SO sick of the meaningless words "up to" in advertising commercials etc. Of course, "Up to 50% off" could just as well mean 0% off, or even an increased price!
I have given up to 90% (i.e. less than 10%) of my time tonight thinking about this, and how this increasingly pernicious deception can be stamped out. If anybody can pick up the baton and put pressure on the ASA, it is surely you!
Come on - let's try it!

Well, maybe your site is getting too diffuse, if the recent item "Toddler peeing on the doorstep" can raise 165 readngs in a short time, while this got 4 at the time of posting!
We will see!

I would pack up the 'petition' to stop that kind of advertising! Sale - up to 50% off. You go there and the only stuff that is 50% off is four seasons old clothing! Grrr!!!!!!!!!:dance: "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0

Not only is it annoying the 'up to 50% off', but i think the most annoying part is when the 'up to' is in such small writing you cant see it. All you see is '50% off' which gets you all excited and then when you get there its dissapointing.
I now know to look at all the small print to save getting my hopes up.0 -
I don't think it is deceptive. In any sale different items will be reduced by different amounts, and the line does not at all attempt to imply that all items are 50% off. I just bought a £44 pair of work trousers for £5 + vat in a clearance sale - I did not expect similar reductions on the regular items I bought.0
