Item i was bidding on has ended

I was bidding on an item which had a £90 Buy It Now and 99p start. I did not feel the item was worth £90 so bid 99p and was prepared to go higher later in the auction if required. I noticed today that the item had ended so sent a message asking why. I have had the following reply:

I'm sorry but the item is no longer available for sale. I was offered a high buy it now price which I accepted.

Is this allowed? It could not have been the £90 as this vanished once I bid 99p

I know I cannot do anything but just wondered if you can cancel a listing with a bid if offered an agreed buy it now?

Thank you

    Snooze you loose.
  • Maybe someone offered them a better price in person eg a friend, or maybe they just didn't think it would sell for enough so they ended it rather than being in a situation where they'd not make the money they wanted. They're within their rights to take the listing down.

I recently ended a listing for an item i was selling, a buyer contacted me asking if he could buy iit at the BIN price i had set, by the time i had contacted him to say yes somebody had bid and the BIN had gone so we agreed to simply let him bid the price we had agreed and then ended the auction, its somewhere in the ebay rules, i was happy, the buyer was happy, and a gentlemans agreement was honoured.
