TV Trouble!

Options
Hi Everyone!

I'm hoping that you can help me sort out a little problem!

My partner and i have just bought an apartment in the centre of Birmingham. It's on the 21st floor, and according to the vendor the only way to recieve clear television reception is to use a SKY Box.

This is because Radisson Hotels have built a 40 floor hotel, smack bang in the way of the nearest TV transmitter.

The vendor is leaving the satellite dish in the property which he had installed, but is taking his SKY box with him, for his new property.

I need advice on the cheapest and easiest way to get nice clear telly!

Is there anyway to just buy a SKY box off somewhere like E-Bay, and by-pass getting a subscription off Sky?

Neither of us are bothered about getting any extra channels, but being on the 21st floor, we kinda expected to be able to get a nice clear television picture

Does anyone have any ideas?

Another similar question; does anyone know if you can just plug in a sky box to a minidish with an old viewing card and receive the free to air channels?

    Hi
Yes you can, I did just this when I got rid of Sky, but you don't get E4, E4+ or Cbeebies if I remember rightly.
I believe you can buy a one off card from sky for £20, for the other channels that are available on freeview.
