Not been paid

I did some temping work starting in dec last year until feb time. I have been paid for all of my hours in Jan and Feb however I have not been paid for any of the hours I worked during Dec. I have spoken to the agency and they said my hours have not been authorised, I keep ringing them and they say they will speak to the people who I worked for and then get back to me. However they never get back to me and every time I ring they keep saying the same thing. Its getting very frustrating and I need the money. Is there anything I can do?

Did you get time sheets for December signed off by the Company you worked for and do you have a copy of the sheets? If you do then go back to the Agency and yell. If you don't have copies I would speak to the company you worked for and tell them you have not been paid by the Agency and ask them if there was/is a problem with sign off. Good luckx

Sadly I did not have copies it was online and it now will not let me get to them, I have no contact details for where I used to work. I know it sounds like I am completely useless.

You must know where you used to work, surely, so finding their contact details shouldn't be impossible.

Failing that, raise a grievance with the agency, I'm sure they must have a procedure for it.

I contacted someone else at the agency early last week and he told me that he had passed this on to my manager. Does anyone know how long I should wait until I speak to him again, as this has been going on far too long and I really need the money.

Hi, I contacted the agency a few times now they said they were waiting for my hours to be authorised then I have not heard from them. This has been going on for over 6 months and I cant afford to not have this money. Does anyone know what I should do, I was going to go to the CAB but is this only open during 9-5 week days and would I need an appointment? I've tried looking online but it doesn't have any information for my local one.

Or does anyone on here have any advice for what I should do. Thanks

It is up to the agency to pay you then claim the money back from the client.

If the client won't pay, that isn't your fault, the agency still legally have to pay you for hours worked.

However, the problem you face is that you can't prove how many hours you worked.

Does the agency have a head office you can complain to?

Well just found the website, they seem to have two it has the managing directors number but no email address and also the manager of the section I worked at. I guess I should start with emailing him. Any ideas of the email I should send, (I'm really rubbish with words). But will they even care its been 6 months.

Thank you for your help aswell.

I would suggest that your put it in your own words, but something along these lines:

Tell them what money you are owed - how much and since when

Explain to them the attempts you have made to recover the money from them, with times and dates and who you have spoken to if possible

Then tell them that you have tried to resolve this matter but can no longer afford to go without payment, and that if they have not paid you within 21 days, you will have no alternative but to resort to legal action without further warning. Unfortunately, you have left this too long for an employment tribunal, so you would have to issue county court proceedings, which I am afraid entail a small cost (which tribunals don't). CAB would be able to help you to fill in the necessary forms.

In many cases this tends to concentrate employers minds on paying.

    Here's quite a radical idea!

How about contacting the company you worked for and see why they haven't authorised the hours you claim to have worked?

The agency won't pay you until it is authorised (because without it being authorised by their client, they won't get paid).
