They didn't give you any part of logbook? Not even the tear off green slip V5C/2 new keeper's supplement?

It all depends on whether there is a current recorded keeper for the vehicle on DVLA's records. If there is no keeper then you could get the logbook within 7-10 days, however if there is a keeper then it takes 4-6 weeks as they have to do security checks before releasing the logbook which includes writing to the current recorded keeper.

Best thing is to ring DVLA and ask if there is a recorded keeper. If you get this reply in next hour then you can ring today - they close 5.30. Otherwise ring Monday. 0870 240 0010.

If there is not a keeper then you can tax it at your local DVLA office same time you apply for V62 (there is £25 fee for V62 application).

If there is a keeper then all you can do is send off V62 with fee asap (it's downloadable) and keep vehicle off road until you get logbook.

  • Hi it was bought of a guy on ebay that sells CAT D cars and so the car would be in the name of the person before it got to the guy that sold it to me.

it depends on the area you are because many online sales are on the basis of auction sales (perfect way to save huge amount) in chase of second hand car so they need to clear certain rules
