Anybody got any tips on how to keep a loo clean! I don't want to use bleach or some of the less friendly options so wondered if anyone had any old fashioned tips - apart from the scrubbing brush.

I'm quite happy to keep on using Stardrops too, the ratio of green to economics can't be beaten imho.

For the toilet I use vinegar, white vinegar is preferred but I pour in the cheap, brown stuff from tescos (17p for 500ml). One bottle per month, around the rim and bowl, then leave overnight (or longer if poss.) You may need the scrubbing brush still to dislodge any loosened limescale. Also you could consider pouring some in the cistern occasionally as scale builds up there too.
  • according the aggie and kim, regularly leave denture-cleaning tablets in the bowl overnight or pour a can of coke leave this for a hour and it will remove stains and once a week to avoid blockages pour a cup of bicarbonate soda into the pan
