Cement is cheaper than tile adhesive

I'm thinking of using cheap cement (made up at home from cement and sand) rather than far-more-expensive tile adhesive, to lay a lot of floor tiles on to a dry, long established, concrete base, indoors in a kitchen.

I don't doubt it will 'work' but are there any long term implications?

It can't be anything to do with the need for flexibility, because you have to buy special additives to add to tile adhesive, to make it flexible. And cement is a good adhesive. The worst thing I can think of is that it is too good an adhesive and it might be a nightmare to remove the tiles and added cement in future years. I'm happy to leave it much longer to dry, than tile adhesive, before walking on the new tiles.

Can you think of any other reasons NOT to proceed with this plan?

Regards
George
