Same happened to me. I've just fitted a few broken pots together to make a rather strange looking strawberry pot! Nothing wasted - nothing gained!

I won't use terracota pots because I previously had a couple fall apart from frost damage. I now use the decorative plastic ones which seem to be far more hardy. If necessary you can always wrap them around with bubblewrap on the outside if you want to protect the roots of plants inside them from frost.

I had quite a few terracotta and such plant pots that I have had a few years and this year they seem to have fallen apart. I have never had problems with them before so is it possible the long snowy winter destroyed them (I live in East Midlands)?

the weather has done my pots too the first year ever but i think it has been the coldest ive had down south in a while

  • Hi all

I had the same problem. Went to move some pots this weekend gone, and most of them had cracked, lost tops, etc. Never happened before, but, now have lots of crocks for bottom of other pots! Looks like someone has gone along and carefully bashed each one.... :(

Ah well it seems I will be taking a trip to the garden centre for more pots ...... sadly I have an affliction that means I always buy loads of plants whenever I go to garden centre. Time to get the credit card out. I am rubbish at money saving (but do pay off my credit card in full)
