Paving slabs in the garden

Hi all,
I have bought some cheap slabs from my local no frills.
My intention is to lay a small path either side of my green house.
Can I just level off the soil and lay them directly on top, or is there more to it?

Yes it would work
But ( there is always a but )
How compacted is the area , how much use would it get
How much time/effort are you willing to put in ??0 -
As Wallabash says, will work, but may get a bit of a wobble over timeNumerus non sum0

Thanks for the replies.
The slabs won't get a great deal of use, they will just be used by me to navigate around my vegetable beds.
I am looking for the easiest route as I have 5 veg beds and a pon to sort too lol.

If they wobble, 10 mins with a bit of sand would straighten them up0

With 5 veg beds plus green house , you have enough to get on with . just scrape the earth flat and drop the slabs on. If they rock , sort it out when you have time in the Autumn.
Use sharp sand if you go that route.
Ps whats a pon ??0 -

Guessing it was Pond

I have only 7 frogs ( if they have survived the winter) but also 15 fish .
Pond is looking a bit drab , but the pump still works, water is clear and plants will eventually grow.0 -
I only Moved into the house last august and haven't done anything with the pond yet, I have never had a pond and don't know where to start - but the frogs seem happyJune 2016 - Pair of Brooks Glycerin 14's

TBH id go down the sharp sand route first otherwise you will likely end up doing the job twice0
