How do I report a dodgy Npower salesman?

I just had a guy knock at the door from Npower.
I've been meaning to switch to dual fuel for a while so thought I'd speak to a salesman for once.

Firstly, he worked out my annual usage from a a 26 day estimate on my BG bill and multiplied by 12. He also ignored the actual usage I'd written next to the estimate for my own records.

But anyway, he called up the sales dept and quoted me £39pcm for 3200 kwh even tho my BG estimate bill worked out at £37pcm for 3700kwh (from my own records we actually use around 3000kwh annually)

After taking a full 2 mins to realise this was more expensive he said he'd made a mistake with the calculations and had to call again, this time with a figure of 1500 kwh :rotfl:
Surprise surprise it came out a £20pcm DD which he wanted to sign me up for saving me a massive £12 a month which would save me £139 a year apparently.

Either the guy really struggles with maths or he was trying to deceive me.
Either way I think he should be reported because that's ridiculous!
I have his first name and a reference number which he has tried to cross out, I guess that should be enough

Anyone know how to report him? Their site says to look on a bill for the number, but I don't have an Npower bill obviously.

    Nevermind, I just saw this:
Tell us your thoughts. If an npower representative has visited you recently we'd like to hear about your experience.
You can call us on 0845 606 0646† (option 3) to give your feedback.

No mention of this on their 'complaints' page tho.

I have to say i was very unimpressed with the n Power salespeople. They were pushy and i ended up getting something that i didn't want - and my bill INCREASED.

Shall be learning my lesssons and not doing that again.

Well he's been reported, not sure if anything will come of it tho.
After explaining what happened the guy in the complaints department even started asking me for my usage so he could give me a quote. I had to tell him I wanted to lodge a complaint, not get a quote!

BTW, option 6 is complaints, not option 3 which I copied/pasted straight from their site.

daveski, even if his sums were right and it was cheaper I still wouldn't have signed it as I'd always look online at small print and look at quidco etc first. You can never trust these bar stewards.

Hmm, just to play devil's advocate for a moment...

All door to door salesmen prey on idiots, it's not just npower's or even just utility salesmen.
As by your admission you would not buy from him and would check things out yourself later you were wasting his time (he get's paid for sign ups, not for I'll check it out online later and do it if I think it is good), so why do you not expect him to waste your with his poor attempts at deception.

Complaining will not help, npower may get rid of him eventually after compaints but then he just goes and join British Gas and it starts all over again. Door to door salesperson churn is high and what let go they will just start their crap again for the next company.

I just think it is moor polite to tell them they are wating their time with you so please do not waste yours by coming in.

Like I said, I've been meaning to switch to dual fuel for a while and I know Npower show up as cheapest on uswitch for my current elec/gas usage.
Since he said he was from Npower I thought I'd see what he would come up with.

Alot of these people are employed through agency's and give the respective companies a bad name! The best thing is to calculate your annual consumption and use comparison sites to find the best prices. Then go via a cash back site to get even more savings. Quidco will give you £130 for a switch to NPower.
