Hi all-am hoping someone can help please. have a buyer that has bought 2 of my items (2 BIN from same listing) told him I would give him a £5 discount but ebay wont let me discount the invoice. Can't take it off postage coz postage was free anyway! When i try it says 'invalid discount amount must be less than 0.00' I am putting -5.00 and then clicking preview invoice. Tried recalculate and that doesnt work. Thanks for any help It's really winding me up!

I think the only thing you can discount is postage, and there isn't any.
Best thing to do is invoice the full amount, then refund the discount amount.... I think. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks Fay-I've emailed him saying if he pays by paypal I will refund him a fiver back to paypal. Thanks0

I've had this problem recently too. Apparently the discount rules have changed and now you cannot add a discount which is more than the amount of postage being charged, which is a bit useless when you have free shipping on your items! I used to add discounts quite frequently without problems but now I either refund the discounted amount via PayPal after the buyer has paid, or I send a separate invoice for the discounted amount via PayPal directly.0

If I have a query like this BEFORE the buyer bids, I relist the item he wants at the discounted price. Otherwise you pay fees on the whole amount and then refund the discount, losing the fee value on the discount.0
