Church Ceremony Charges - Is this expensive or the average?

Hi all, I have enquired about getting married at a local church in a picturesque village and I have been informed the charges for the ceremony incl. church maintenance, vicar, registrar ect, bells and organist accounts to £697!

I was expecting £300 not £700 and so just want to check whether this is the usual charges or are we being penalised due to the location?

Many thanks :o

  • Hi. Ours is in a small village, and its a beautiful church. It's costing £461 including bells, the candle, organist etc etc. I thought that was expensive, so £700 does sound quite a lot!!!!!
Maybe it depends on which area you are in?
    Hope to help x

ours is £638 but that is

    church - £396
    Choir -£80
    Bells - 72
    video - £40
    flowers - £50

although i think i may scrap the flowers and the choir and get a local church band i know to play.

we are sharing our day and the wedding before hand gets to use our flowers even though i am the one paying as she doesn't want flowers and the church wont put them up after their wedding which i find rather annoying.

oh that silly about the flowers... surely it should be half each!

ours is costing £505 I think, that includes bells and organist. I need to talk to the flower lady to see how much that will be.

Ah Rose, as you mention registrar I take it you're getting married at a Catholic church in which case it will be more as you need the registrar. C of E vicars are also registrars so that cuts out the need to pay a registrar as well as the vicar.
  • My cousin is getting married on a sunday and it is costing £700
