Pleased the cleaning got done, it sounds as though your preparing to feed an army!!! We constantly change our plan to get food to try and save money, do a big shop once a week, then we'll buy little and ofter, then we'll do a mix of the two and i'll get a few bits on the way home, etc etc. Think today is going to be a bit of a take it easy day, everyones away in Cornwall for family birthdays and i couldn't get the time off so i'm on my own for the day and chilling... List of jobs.. 1) Re-work finances on spreadsheet as had DD's change and need to set up council tax. 2) Re-list CC and payments to ensure monthly outgoings are correct. 3) Re-check all CC balances and make sure i do not have to pay any before payday. 4) If i'm successful in my promotion meeting on 8th June i need to work out how much i'll be fighting for if i stay in my new location as i'm claiming travel costs at the moment and that would stop if it becomes my perm place of work. 5) Try to resist going to the cafe... Whats every one else up to today? Herewego good luck with the family as expecting you'll be entertaining all day

Second LBM - If i didn't have to pay a minimum of £500 a month to debt re payment our life would be alot easier, and we could afford for my partner to give up work and be with our son! Can't think of a reason to motivate you more then that!

Just been looking at cheap wedding packages, bit depressing that can't afford to get married due to quantity of debt! Anyone had any great successes with planning and having a cheap wedding?

I know what you mean. I have said that I want to wait until the debt is paid off and then get married, but now I just want to do it, and I don't mind getting married on the cheap because the main thing is just getting hitched! If we do wait it'll still be a cheap wedding because I just think there are things I'd rather spend my money on.
The weddings forum on here has lots of good ideas on how to do it on a budget, but I suppose it depends on how many people you will be inviting, what skills you can call on in your friendship groups (eg any decent cakemakers, flower arrangers etc)... it can get very complicated I'm finding!
    Good luck with it anyway!

Thanks for reply, i was just looking at Gretna Green weddings now, can go up there and for £659 get married 2 night stay and wouldn't have to wait that long, then throw a party back home when we get back. Family would be invited and if they wanted to come can pay for themselves for 2 nights (They are all in good jobs and wouldn't mind) ...Seriously considering it!!!

Well the wedding update... My brother is my best man, and he and his wife are having a baby in September. So if i want to get married it's before September, or next year really as i've had a baby and know you need the first 12 weeks To spend with your family and be up all night with the baby lol! I can't wait to be married to my fiance and therefore will be pushing hard to make her my lawful wife within the next 3 months...Yes i will be a married man in less then 3 months..And one other thing... It has to be a cheap wedding as you can clearly see the amount of debt we are in and i want it gone. My budget, will be no more then a couple of grand. Is this possible??? Watch and find out! I have decided to try an book a venue and get married there, and then bring everyone to our house for a BBQ, Yes i am serious! We willbuy cheap rings from argos or ebay (As in £40 each) and see what else we can crunch. I have a MACRO card for the food, so it is just getting the registrar, venue, suits, dress, flowers for as minimal cost as possible...This is going to be fun!

The wedding search... I have found 2 great looking venues, called to discuss as the rates looked very reasonable! Surprise, surprise you can't book the venue without booking the evening reception for a minimum of 50/60 people at a minimum of £50 a head... Thats a no go then, i've been looking all morning and will carry on until i find the right venue at the right price!!!! Very tiring and to be honest cannot understand why you'd want to spend a year planning a wedding, my heads read to explode!

Well i've sent a few nice e mails, and schmoozed with the lady from one of the wedding companies hoping that we'll get a late deal, fingers crossed!! Still waiting for 3 companies to call me back regarding venues... Would happily take any advice or experience shares on how people have got married on the cheap?
