Bought Fake Item

Hi

My girlfriend won an auction for a handbag this afternoon on ebay. She asked me to pay via paypal which I did (both the ebay and paypal account are mine). Problem is I didnt check the listing before paying and to say I am dubious of the authenticity of the handbag is an understatement!

Firstly the guy has been on ebay about a week, feedback of one (postive), however the feedback reads "good transaction but item fake". The item is the same brand but a tshirt.

Secondly the listing goes along the lines of "pretty certain this is real, bought by a friend" etc etc. Also states "no refunds" which I believe is not allowed?

Thirdly the photo is not great but looks like something has been blurred out in the top corner (maybe a company/website logo where the pic has been stolen from?)

Anyway I've paid already but wondering if there is anything I can do? Can I report to ebay as fake? Can I cancel the transaction and demand a refund before recieving the item?

Thank you in advance for any replies

Tell ebay and tell paypal. Ebay will probably tell you to approach the seller directly to sort it out. Ebay will generally try to do nothing.

I bought some CK men's underwear from an ebay powerseller with hundreds of good feedback statements. To cut a long story short I had to contact the seller and inform them that I thought the items sent to me were knock offs. They offered me a refund straight away, which I received. Ebay could have cared less. They were useless. Paypal might be alot more helpful, as they don't want to be complicit in a potentially fraudulant transaction.

    Hope it helps.

You can't cancel the transation just because you think it is a fake, unfortunately having agreed to buy you will need to receive the item, and then if it is a fake prove it. Once you prove to paypal that the item is a fake, and they usually prefer written confirmation from the manufacturers or retailer on headed paper, they will arrange a refund for you.
