Well done on your excellent progress with the study. is it looking as good this morning?
Hope you slept well after all the paintercise yesterday!
We had a massive cookup, squillians of savoury danish, 3 loaves of wholemeal bread, a cherry cake and my OH made a yummy beef stew for supper. And we got a row of broad beand and peas in and one of parsnips down the middle of the bbs.
Enjoyed Dr Who with a cuppa and slice of cake in front of the fire which I cleaned out properly for the first time in at least a week! I think that's more info about me than I've ever posted in all my years on MSE! Everyone elses' descriptions of daily life always seem more interesting than mine.
Have a good day everyone.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
IMD - I do the reloads from william hill and ladbrokes - they pop up most weekends and for big sporting events......just a few ££ to be made from each but it all adds up. Occasionally you get them from paddy power and VC bet etc too, so just keep an eye out in your inbox and on the GIOL board.
Verbatim, my life is anything but interesting - it is just normal! Your cookup sounds fab! I have lived on ready meals and jaffa cakes so far this weekend
Have just booked £19 travelodges for two of our nights away in the summer. Will decide where to book the others as we are probably going to get motorway noise if we want the cheapies. Our theme park passes give us discount in the hotels that are attached to the theme parks, so when we pick them up on Wednesday (using them to go to Madame Tussauds when we go to London) I will investigate that further.
If we end up taking the motorway option, in order to get best value for money, that is fine - but I will then book the last night in a hotel with a spa so we can round off the week with just a taste of something better (as long as it is still in budget of course!).
It is all shaping up nicely, and a fellow MSE'er is possibly coming to house-sit while we are away too which will be fab
Right, still in PJs, so must get dressed and painting!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I've finished the walls :j
Just going to have coffee and then will go and sugar soap the woodwork ready to do that.
I've emptied the bookshelf in the cabin, and have managed to get the desk from there and into the conservatory. I can't manage to get it upstairs on my own I don't think but we shall see. I certainly can't do the bookshelf without help.......may coerce my Mum and/or sister into giving me a hand when they come and pick me up to go out for dinner later.....
Definitely getting there
I have decided, after much thought, to use some of my MSE money to buy a new PC. After all, it will enable me to earn more, so I really don't want to put it off any longer than is needed. The money is there, so I will start looking around for the best value for what I need and take it from there.
Of course, I will be constantly replenishing the "pot" so my emergency fund won't be depleted for too long, hopefully!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Just a thought - is it worth asking your employer to contribute towards a new PC for you? After all the main reason for getting it is so that you can keep up with the boys at work. Seems it's the least they can do to put you on an equal footing with your colleagues as at the moment you are at a disadvantage because you are a mum which in this day and age is not right.
Sorry, I'll disappear back into lurkdom...Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Wow, Hypno, you've done so much! I think thats a good idea to use the mse money for a PC - like you say, its so you can earn more, so its like seed money - speculate to accumulate, and all that!
Get into that bath, so you can enjoy the meal with your mum and your sis!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Oceanspirit - no I wouldn't ask work for help. I am quite happy to do it this way - then it is on my terms, IYSWIM.
I am officially "done in"......I've finished the decorating, and taken the desk apart, and taken it upstairs. Unfortunately some of the chipboard has come away, so whilst it looks ok, it is not as rigid as it should be, so I will need to get some wood glue and do it again before I can use it. Which is a bit annoying, as it was perfectly rigid before I took it apart, so had I waited until there was someone else here, and taken it upstairs complete, it would probably have been fine! Oh well, serves me right for being impatient. I won't be attempting the bookcase though - that is for sure, it is very tall and very very heavy!
I've put a couple of pictures up, so really I have done about as much as I can. Now I am going to get in the bath and soak for a bit, then I will hoover up all the bits of wood and general dust that has been created over the last few days!
Am shattered. Absolutely shattered. But glad I did it!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well done! All done and........ (ok, not dusted) with a day to spare.
Have put in sticks on yesterday's row of peas and dug out a sneaky bit of sedge I caught creeping under the path. Oh has dug out some weeds ready for me to put on manure and plant some gooseberry bushes (read sticks really) that I propagated a few years ago and have left languishing in a pot.

My garden is shocking - a job for a fine and sunny weekend (if we ever get one). I am definitely a fine weather gardenerIt just needs tidying up really so would only take one good day's work if I am in the right frame of mind.
Had someone come round and give me a quote for cleaning the guttering - that's a job I definitely can't do myself, so will have to arrange that before long.....its another of those jobs that OH never got around to (can't say I blame him, I don't want to do it either) but that really does need to be done once in a while. The quote was reasonable, so it makes sense to pay and have a job done and ticked off the list.
