Afternoon all! Just popped on to see how you're all doing and what you're up to!

I know what you mean about the productivity that doesn't actually look like you've done anything - at least you'll know it's done though!!

Mmmmm....think I need to wash this fleece - the dog keeps sniffing me!

We're off to see Nanny McPhee shortly - I can't believe how expensive it is to go to the cinema!!! Criminal!!! I'm going to sneak in the drinks and sweets though and hope we don't get frisked again!

Right, off to throw things away for an hour! xx

Afternoon - glad you are taking it easy today - same in this house. Have been and done banking from work which should have been done last Thursday but the queue in the bank was out the door then. Queued for 30 minutes today and have made a formal complaint - that follows the complaint to another one of the big ones about bouncing DS cheque for his trip abroad when the funds were in the account at 7.30 that morning.

Feeling more relaxed today after our day out yesterday - have nearly finished my book - the last one of the Steig Larsson triology - jolly good it is too.

Should really go do something constructive but actually can't be bothered at the moment!!!

    Enjoy your afternoon!

That's one reason we are going to London tomorrow, Mudders - it was as cheap for the three of us to get a FunFare on National Express to London for the day as it was to go to the pictures by the time we factor in sweets, drink, parking etc!

Enjoy the film though.....I am sure you will find somewhere to hide sweets etc in the interests of moneysaving :D

I'm about three quarters through the first one, and bizarrely have managed to buy the third one.....without buying the second..... At least I realised before I started reading it, otherwise I might have gotten myself all confused eventually!

Hypno - very good thinking about doing something other than the piccies! I usually wait until things are on at the £1 showing or when they come out on DVD - it's cheaper to buy them than go and see them. This is a birthday treat for DD though so I'm trying not to be too begrudging or at least not to let it show! Especially when DD said she was really excited about going to see it as she usually sees things months after her friends :rotfl:. What I don't get is how you go to the cinema and it's always heaving!! How do these people afford it ... OMG I'm turning into my mother!:D.

    And breathe....breathe...lie in a darkened room...calm down! :rotfl:xx

Some chains do the £1 for kids on Saturday showings; there's Orange Wednesday 2 for 1 at all cinemas, some chains have point cards that give you free tickets or popcorn or drinks when you have enough points, you can get tickets on a certain supermarket's Clubcard deal, have a look at the MSE free ticket thread.... catches breath...:D

And keep the 3D glasses safe as a lot of films are in the same format eg Avatar and Alice in Wonderland so that's a one off expense:D

I thought someone - I'm thinking of the Office of Fair Trading - was going to investigate the price of cinema refreshments??

Hope that helps. Your mileage may vary, especially if you have kids and work full time.In that case, they're out for every penny they can get:eek: I know we're lucky as we can choose not to go at peak times.

I'm lucky that my city has regular free screenings (found via the free films thread on MSE) so I mostly go to them if I manage to get tickets. I think I've seen 20+ films through that in the last year! :D :j They are usually on ~6.30pm (so I have tea before hand) or 11am on a Sunday (so I have brekkie before I go and take my own bottle of water so no expensive snacks for me! :p

The last one I paid for was to see Avatar (finally!) with a £1 cinew0rld ticket that was in the MSE newsletter a few weeks ago. I only had to pay 80p (for the glasses) on top. :D It was wierd to have to sit through 30 mins of ads 1st though - the free ones don't have many - maybe a couple of other films that are due out from the same company but nothing else. I've got used to there being none! :rotfl:

DS sometimes goes to the cinema with his friends, but he pays for himself with his paper round money - they often do Orange Wednesdays, and certainly take their own sweets and drinks in to avoid the extortionate prices on site.

I've done some more paper sorting - and my back is aching now! Another full shredding bag and another full bin bag - and still more stuff to go. The recycling bin and the black bin are both full. I have done a bit of a "car boot" assessment, and DD and I have agreed that if it is fine on Sunday, we will load up the car and go and do a sale.....

But if I made this much progress every day.....or even every week.....my life would be much less cluttered and much more ordered. That is something that I really need to consider. We have so much still to do - and yet I seem to have had several "declutter spurts" over the years.....but obviously there was just far far more than I ever really took notice of, and each time I have only been scratching at the surface.

It is the beginning of the new financial year - and by the time I get to the end of it, I want to be in a completely different frame of mind.....one that is less cluttered, and much clearer, more focused, and more productive.
