Something to be concerned about?
I have seen a car I'm interested in on Autotrader - 2004 Astra 1.6 sxi £2500 from a dealer but I'm slightly concerned as it has part SH and the trader has this underneath the picture
"To be purchased as seen and tested."
I was just wondering if that was usual when buying from trader? I've previously bought privately so am used to the sold as seen comment on paperwork but having not bought from a trader before I was just wondering if that was a normal occurence.
Thanks

you've got rights when buying from a trader and 'sold as seen' doesn't cut it. it may be a person selling cars from home maybe who think that consumer protection laws don't apply but they do.

It's probably knackered.
If it's an Astra H for that price it'll definitely be (though I know a lot of Gs were 2004-2005 registered).0 -
There is no reason for this to be stated other than the seller is quaking a bit and is not sure how long its going to last.
Walk away now if you have any sense.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
sold as seen is the worrying bit. I'd walk away just over that wording.0

As is often said on here, It obviously concerns you or you wouldn't be asking

If in doubt just walk away, Plenty of cars out there.War does not decide who is right, It decides who is left.0 -
Agree with everyone above - if you are worrying before you even go to see it, then dont bother.0

Thanks for the advice everyone
I didn't bother contacting the seller in the end but was just wondering, what is the difference between an astra G & H? It's not a reference to the change in shape is it? BSC support number 158

Cheers
It's most definitely an Astra G we're looking at, have only seen one Astra H in our price bracket (upto £2500) (not the one I originally posted about though) and knew enough to realise there was something clearly wrong with it for it to be sold so cheaply

Plenty of Gs available in that budget so don't be afraid to walk away
