Which Silicone Gun?......Please Advice

Options
Hi,

I need to purchase a new silicone gun, due to my ill health I am currently housebound, so my best option is to buy online.

Can you give me some guidance on which gun to buy please:

1)A conventional one:

OR

2) A modern type:

Thank you!

Jay

i would go for the conventional
the modern type looks like it's been designed by someone who's never had to use one

I'd be concerned that the modern one appears to only hold the tube by some kind of friction grip - which on a smooth silicone tube isn't going to be that strong. The last thing you want mid way through the job is the whole tube dropping out of the gun.

The modern one looks plasticy. I do a alot of masticing and I always use the traditional ones. A good heavy duty one lasts for ages.

I actually need something simple because I don't really do much DIY at home so it won't get used much and there isn't going to be much wear and tear.

If I go for a conventional one, is there a difference in quality between the one I posted (Cox Wexford):

    and this one(Globemaser)?:

    Thanks!

The more expensive one takes cartridges up to 400mm. This means you can use 'Gripfill' for instance which only comes in the larger cartridges. If yoyu get the cheaper one it is smaller and therefore you will limit yourself on the range of products you can use.
