Fraud Insurance from Columbus Direct - Train Line

I felt cheated yesterday when I was booked for a train through trainline.com and the train got cancelled in the last minute. I had an insurance while doing the booking through Columbus direct. When I contacted Columbus Direct they refused to send me the claim form saying that the insurance will not cover me for the train cancellation and they started asking me all silly questions like was train cancelled because of mechanical reason etc etc. Basically they seemed to avoid making any payment for my case. I feel cheated because the basic purpose of my making this booking is defeated.
Anyway I can take this forward as legally they are cheating on me for the simple reaon that I managed to take an alternate train in half an hour. I am wondering if something would have gone wrong to me in the other arrangement which I made for myself, they would have not given any claim as it was an alternate arrangement.
Can someone help please as this may happen to all people who book via trainline.com and where columbus direct insurance appears by default.

They would likely argue that you will be refunded by trainline hence have no loss to claim.0

Have you looked at the policy documentation to see what this insurance actually covers you for?0
