Switch to Npower...
Options
Hi,
I mentioned in another thread (which I accidently hijacked:o) how I'd started a switch to Npower via Quidco. Although there will be a small saving over my current Scottish Power fixed price tarriff, it's mainly being done for the £130 cashback. I know that Npower don't have a great reputation, and I wouldn't be switching without this cashback.
Although I cleared cookies first and made sure I went via the Quidco link, the transaction still hasn't tracked after 4 days. I messaged Quidco a couple of days ago and they replied that it should track within 0-3 days, but could take longer and may not track at all.
The welcome email from Npower says that I should receive a contract within 7-10 days. Can anyone tell me what the cooling off period is (7 days, 14 days?) and when it starts from? Is it from when I initially started the switch, or from when I receive the contract? Are then any differences between doing it over the internet, and being mugged in a supermarket or on the doorstep?
I presume that if the transaction doesn't track, I can just phone Npower and say I've just changed my mind, without having to justify the reason? I do realise that I could put in an earnings query, but there's obviously no guarantee that it will go in my favour.
Thanks.

As long as you are aware of that, have no intention of staying and are willing to invest a little time in checking up on NPower/ writing letters of complaint I don't see the problem. I've switched with my eyes wide open and won't be relying on 'customer service' to do much serving of customers. It's an average twelve weeks to payout and then I am gone!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Cool offs are usually 7 working days.0

So about four month? That fits in with the average of twelve weeks fine. I have plenty of time until winter for them to @rse it all up before I need to switch back!! Might not be so cheery come October.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
PNPSUKNET/Fire Fox,
I'm not really concerned about the payout time, just the time taken to track. Can you recall this?
Also, do you know the answer regarding the cooling off period and when this begins?
Cheers!Nice to save.0 -
As closure...I've just phoned and cancelled my switch to Npower. If it was highly likely that I'd receive the £130 cashback, I think it would have been worth the 'risk' of going to Npower for a year, but the lack or delay of tracking has put too many doubts in my mind about whether or not I'd get it.
I think it's also time to give Topcashback a go. I've had about 30 successful transactions in the last 5 or so years with Quidco, then the last 2 haven't tracked.Nice to save.0
